Clwb Golff Aberteifi, to give it its Welsh name, was founded in 1895 and moved to its current site in 1927.

Often described as one of the most startling of the unsung courses of Wales it is to be found overlooking the Teifi Estuary at Gwbert, three miles from the historic town of Cardigan. You don't have to take a Welshman’s word for it, come and taste its delights for yourself.

Furman Bisher of the Atlanta Journal, doyen of American golf writers, came to Wales to give Royal Porthcawl the once over. He had never been to Wales before and was so impressed he changed his plans so that he and his wife could do a ten-day tour. The game he played at Cardigan was extolled to his readers as one of the highlights: "With the possible exception of Pebble Beach, the view from the top of the Cardigan course is the finest I've seen anywhere in golf".

The original nine holes were laid out by Mr I. E.Grant, the then Professional at Tenby Golf Club, and are still used today. The course has subsequently been extended to 18 holes to a Hawtree design. The quality of the course has been recognised by the Golf Union of Wales in recent years with Cardigan hosting several of their championships and international matches.

The Clubhouse and changing facilities were recently re-furbished and extended to Visit Wales specification. The informal and comfortable lounge and bar areas can cater for parties large and small. The restaurant can cater for up to sixty covers with an extensive menu to suit all tastes. Panoramic sea views from the lounge, restaurant and patio areas are spectacular and the summer sunsets are something to behold!

Inaugural winners of the Welsh Golf Club of the Year award, the Club was highly commended for both its course and clubhouse presentation.
